Dark Lord Day 2013
Date: April 27, 2013

Overview
Dark Lord Day 2013 was held on Saturday, April 27th. A new Dark Lord logo and label artwork was introduced. This year also saw a large expansion in the size of the festival grounds as well as a new event planning company (Running Waters Group) hired to run the event. In addition to the Three Floyds' property, the festival included the parking lot immediately north of the brewery, the large vacant lot across the street, and most of Indiana Parkway. As a result Indiana Parkway was blocked off to traffic at both Progress Ave and Superior Drive.
The expanded space allowed the band stage to be moved outside. A large tent with picnic tables for bottle sharing was setup in the field across from the brewery. Guest taps were stationed near this tent. The expanded footprint helped significantly in reducing crowding. They also increased the number of porta potties significantly, making wait times to use the restroom much shorter if at all.
Two additional time slots were added to the group sales times, making a total of five (A-E). Despite this, as the day went on, earlier groups were still waiting in line when the next group time had started. This had a cascading effect creating longer and longer wait times to purchase your bottles for the later groups. The time in line reached 2-3 hours later in the day. With many people in Groups D and E not getting their bottles until after 9:00 pm. One factor in slowing down the sales line was the ability to purchase other beers to go in the same area you purchased Dark Lord. Merchandise & other non-Dark Lord bottle sales would be moved to a new location in 2014.

The ticket price doubled from $15 to $30. More group sales times were added, bringing the total to five (Groups A-E). The major change was the printing of the purchasers name on the ticket. This was to make tickets non-transferable to address the issue of ticket re-sellers and scalpers.
